This is a new scam in Costa Rica. It looks like a direct import from the US, but it is not aimed at gringos, it is aimed at Ticos. It's a pyramidal marketing scheme that sells dietary supplements. The have beautiful offices over San Jose, with beautiful catalogs, and they explain to prospective salesmen how wonderful their products there (they are all fantastic, of course), and also, incidentally, how much money they can make, especially if they position themselves higher in the food chain.
Maria has been taken by this, and she tries to sell it all her friends, and anyone else who will listen (including me). I don't think she has had much luck, so far.
Well, I'm going to argue with you again. (I'll bet I've discussed this topic before with you, because when I knew you in San Jose I was probably still involved with Cell Tech.) I don't know anything about OmniLife, but I expect they're doing network marketing, which is NOT THE SAME as a pyramid scheme or a scam, which is indeed illegal. I have been a network marketer a couple times in my life, and I know this approach can be completely legit and legal. True, I didn't last very long at it or achieve much success, and I have lots of skepticism about most of the companies that are using this approach, BUT it's still important to me that people such as you should not mislabel network marketing. (By the way I still use the Cell Tech "Super Blue Green" algae almost daily and feel quite confident that it has helped to keep me healthy for years.) It is not easy to be a successful salesman, it seems to me, no matter what type of sales approach your company uses. And in the case of network marketing the seller has to really understand how the payment plan works, use the products and believe in them, and have someone very supportive and knowledgeable to be their sponsor--the person at the level above them (that means Maria has to become that sort of person for the ones she recruits "below" her). The fact that the structure is hierarchical doesn't mean it's bad. I know it's often annoying to be approached by a network marketer, but you could help Maria by understanding how OmniLife's setup operates and see if it makes monetary sense to you. Who knows, maybe these really are good products!

I live in Los Angeles CA USA and I use the Omnilife pruducts. I may sound like a saleman but I can tell that those products are the best thing I have tried to stay healthy. Even though the name of the products is in Eglish, it does not mean that it is so to get the gringos and their . The company is Mexican and it is in 14 countries including USA. You shoul try the products before you call Omnilife a scam. Maybe you are going to live healthier and if you get involved you can may some money to supplement you social security check.

In addition to the above posted comments, I can agree that these products are great! I did not join Omnilife to sell the products. I joined to with one purpose become healthier. I have not felt this good in a long time. My wife, my relatives and good friends can all relate to this experience. You should try them, I know you will feel the difference as well. As many other people can say, I ignored my uncle for a whole year, now I wish I would have taken these products since they started.

I have joined and used Omnilife products for about 3 weeks. I can not beleive the difference it has made in my life and my daughters life. I have a house cleaning company and I and my girls use these products and it gives us so much energy and has helped us to lose weight. I have been in pyramid schemes before and this is not one. Before you judge these products you might want to try them out!!!

Omnilife products are great. Every year we hear thousands of new testimonies who make us work even harder every year. From people with diabetes to cancer whom by taking the products have experienced great improvement in their health, to the people who become distributors and start improving their lives in three different areas:
Health - Take the products yourself to believe!
Money - Share the opportunity and products with others!
Love - Love your life and everyone else by helping them improve theirs!

I am a German living in Peru. One of my friends just got associated in Omnilife and is selling the products. I have tried a couple of the products and didn't feel any big difference. As a matter of fact, the one that contains coffeine and taurine made me nervous and hurt my stomach more than anything else....
I don't know much about the company but everything my friend tells me makes me very skeptical. It feels like another brainwashing company trying to take advantage of people who are on the bottom of the educational realm. The products are way overprized in my opinion, at least here in Peru.

I can't let people say that Omnilife products are bad, or that they mainly to ignorant people. I am a Civil Engineering student in a very good college at the USA, and my brother is a PhD student as well, and both of us have enjoyed the benefits of these great products. I sell them as well and i'm doing pretty good. here are some interesting facts about the company
Omnilife owns 4 great soccer clubs in the world. Chivas,(most awarded team in Mexico), Chivas USA(most impressive team in the USA, improving fast after omnilife's purchase), Saprissa(Champion of Costa Rica, Champion of CONCACAF 2005, 3rd place in WORLD CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP), and new Chivas Hefei(China)
Omnilife's sales are over 1 billion per year since 2004
Omnilife owns the biggest nutritional supplements factory in the world, located in Mexico
Omnilife has more than 3.5 Million independent distributors
ETC ETC
SO, NOBODY CAN SAY I'M IGNORANT OR STUFF LIKE THAT. SINCERELY
IF YOU WANT TO BECOME PART OF OMNILIFE OR WANT TO GET MORE INFORMATION, LET ME KNOW

Omnilife products are not really much more than vitamins and sugar. Most of the serious claims come from testimonials from independent distributors or affiliates. I have yet to see one single medical study conducted by a publication that has been in business over 20 years - a journal that actually publishes paper and not some internet flyby night website owned by who knows.
The claims of curing diabetes and cancer and every known ailment and disease seems a farce. A distributor I know is constantly looking for clients to purchase the products because none of the clients actually continue more than a few months. The only ones who seem to have success are the affiliates of the company (who by the way are the first to become nutritionists and make recommendations such as, ""You are not losing weight by taking the Termogenic/Thermogenic tea? Oh, you have to take it 5 times a day" - even though the label says once - anything to sell as much product until the client figures it out). The funny thing is the client figures it out and the distributor remains branwashed.
In closing I'm sure some of the products help - after all they are vitamins and we all know those are healthy. Also there is a good amount of fruit fiber in there as well and that is just awesome for the digestive system but curing cancer and other terminal illness is reckless and naive. It's no wonder that only the independent distributors make these claims as Omnilife does not and cannot for fear of huge lawsuits. if only some non affiliated doctors or studies would also make these claims Omnilfe may have something. But they have nothing but marketing. Sad but true Omnilife products are little more than over priced vitamins.

Omnilife is a scam they say oh this product will work but you HAVE to take it 5 times a day mostly all of there "distributors" do not speak english they only speak spanish the people selling these products live in the USA but dont speak english so how do they know what the products are really about. They just want more and more money and tell people to get other people into it so they can get more money and you dont get any money! trust me once you start omnilife you WILL go in debt you can not choose to sell these products alone and become "rich" like they say on there website you have to get a second job and the makers of omnilife brainwash you thinking it does cure diseases and makes up products they just came out with a lotion that you can use as a deodorant because deoderant causes cancer?? and apparently it says it on the label of the deoderants i checked NONE of the deoderants said that sort of thing what so ever i suggest you stay away from this minipulating company they dont want to make you healthier they just want your money!! vitiams for &$34.00 a bottle come on !! stayy away!!!!

I think I remember hearing about omnilife. What makes it a scam to you, though? They have a real product, right? Is there proof the product doesn't work? I'm not saying it does work or anything, I certainly don't know much about it, but I think too many people are far too quick to dismiss a MLM structured business as a scam.
